Thank you for giving me a wonderful childhood experience and for taking good care of me and my siblings while our parents is not around. Thank you for nagging me to study hard, without you I wouldn’t have a better life now and brigther future. Thank you for all the wonferful, crazy, and sad memories you have shared with me. You will always be a part of me, no matter where you are right now. I love you so much, Mommy! You know I do, and I always will. It’s really hard to say goodbye, but I guess it’s time to say goodbye. I’m going to miss you so much. As I write this post I couldn’t stop myself from crying. It’s really hard to say goodbye, but I know I must and accept the fact that you’re totally gone. You may not be physically here, but you will always remain in the deepest part of my heart. For me, you’re still the best Lola in the whole wide universe. I owe my life to you. I love you so much, Mommy. And I’m missing you a lot.

Thank you for the gift of love, now you’re sharing it up above. May you rest in peace with our Lord God, Jesus Christ.

Holiday Vacation with Friends and Family!

This post is part of my 2012 backlogs. Sorry for that, my bad . This post has been sitting on my draft folder since the first week of January, finally today I was able to share it with y’all. We had a holiday getaway together with our friends during the last week of December. We used to have our Christmas celebration here in Tagaytay because we so love this place! As a matter of fact we used to celebrate our Christmas get-together here for over three years now. Aside from the fresh air and cold breeze, Tagaytay is  the easiest and quickest getaway when you want to have a break from the hustle and bustle life in the city.

Side Kwento: We left Manila at around 9AM in the morning, we we’re in Sta.Rosa, Laguna at around 10AM and since our check-in time was 2pm we decided to go to Paseo de Sta.Rosa first. Whenever we go to Tagaytay, we make it a point that we drop by  Paseo de Sta.Rosa  to check out if we can score a great finds. This is a great place to shop because there are lots of factory outlets there, name it get it! This is definitely the perfect place for all shoppingera’s and shoppingero’s out there!

Here’s my OOTD!

White Tank Top from Penshoppe, Denim skirt by Calliope, Belt from The Ramp, and flip-flops from Ipanema

We left Paseo de Sta.Rosa at around 11AM, off we went to Tagaytay. We had our lunch at The Cliff House. Whenever we go here we usually dine at Buon Giorno but since we wanted to try something different we decided to dine at Platito. They used to serve Filipino cuisine as you can see in the photo below. Our lunch turned into a brunch because of the food that we order. We ordered bangus, longganisa, spam with lotsa eggs! My friend, Jim who’s not a rice lover ordered some burger (BOOO!). Our order comes with three eggs! Parang hate na hate nila ang itlog dito noh? 🙂

The food price ranges from 100++ and above, it really is way cheaper compare to other Resto here in The Cliff House.

After our errr…egg-ish lunch we decided to go the Hotel. Off we went to Piña Colina Resort.

This year we didn’t stay at Hotel Dominic (our all time favorite Hotel in Tagaytay. Haha!), we reserved a two-story unit in Piña Colina Resort instead. For a change. This unit is good for 15-20 people, and did you know how many are we?! We are only six! KALOKA! So super kakalog-kalog kaming lahat dun sa bahay. Our three friends backed out on the same day, so we don’t have any choice but to avail it. We tried to asked the Receptionist if we can change our room, unfortunately they we’re fully booked at the moment. My gulay! So we didn’t have any choice but to get it, kahit masakit sa aming damdamin at bulsa.Ang mahal eh! Ang sakit sa bulsa! 😛

The only problem with this resort is that it’s quite difficult to find their exact location. They are located at Sta. Rosa – Tagaytay Highway, so you need to have a keen eye for you to be able to see it.  I think it doesn’t really look like a resort, it looks more like a small village. Their staff was really kind and friendly though, which is a must for me. And they never failed to greet us with simple hi and hello whenever they pass on our way.

Anyhoo, here’s our casita (a.k.a semi-mansion sa sobrang laki): Continue reading

Cyler’s List of Spoken Words and Other Milestones at 19 Months Old

At 19 months old, my tot has become more talkative than ever. He communicates well compare before. He can now answer some of my questions by saying yes or no, wag lang talaga e-eksena ang mga cars kung hindi deadma nanaman ang lahat ng tao sa mundo! I think he is so eager to talk because he is trying to cope up with all the adults around him. He’s the only kiddo in our house. I mentioned from my previous post how talkative he is and that he is indeed a HUGE talker(like her mom and dad)! Oftentimes, he talk while sleeping (sometimes he counts pa nga) and talk nonstop from the moment he open his eyes. Sometimes he garble the letter and sounds like a chinese little boy especially when he tries to sing. In fairness to him he really sings well and he knows how to follow the rhythm. Yun nga lang most of the time he has his own version of lyrics. He actually memorized all the soundtracks of his favorite cartoons from BabyTV and Disney Junior, even the soundtrack of Showtime in channel 2 and other commercials in TV. He’s very music inclined. And you know what’s the weirdest thing he does? He used to recite the alphabet while crying, as in may masabi lang talaga sya habang umiiyak. So most of the time we ended up laughing at him. Hehe

And here’s the list of Cyler’s spoken words at 19 months:

Let’s start with the sound of the animals and other things that creates sounds:

• Choo! Choo! (Sound of the train)
• Row! Row! ( a.k.a sound of the Lion. Less the “R” at the end)
• Meow- meow!
• Croak! Croak! (Sound of Frog)
• Bee! Bee! ( a.k.a sound of the car– beep! Beep)
He learned all these sounds from his favorite App, Pocoyo.

And here’s the songs that he already memorized by heart:

• Birthday Song (I taught him how to sing this song just last week. And he sings it by heart. Sometimes with matching papikit-pikit pa at the end of the song)
• The Wheel On The Bus (The best part of this song is when he says open and shut, he used to say pupuchi-pucha! Oh pero teka hindi po sya nagmumura! :p)
• If You’re Happy (He can actually clap and nod his head, but still working on stamping his feet. Naa-out of balance eh!)
• Hi-5 ost (He used to say “pa-pab” instead of hi-5!)
• Showtime ost (He said “Showta” instead of showtime)
• Jake and the Neverland Pirate ost
• Mickey Mouse ost and other Disney Junior cartoon’s official soundtrack (Yun nga lang parating dulo lang ung nasasabi nya. Hehe)
• Alphabet Song (He already mastered this song)
• Twinkle-Twinkle
• A Sailor Went to The Sea (He says “chi” instead of sea)

Here’s the other words that he can actually say, although he still on his buyoy(bulol) phase:
• Oh no! (he says that whenever he stumble or drop something)
• Airplane
• Dirty
• Stop! (He usually say this when our dogs are maligalig and sometimes he says that to me every time I tickle him. Hehe)
• Mickey Mouse
• Truck
• TV… Patwow! (TV Patrol)
• It’s Showta! (It’s showtime!)
• Pupuchi pucha! (Open and shut)
• Manga (But he is actually saying BANANA. This is the weirdest thing he say. No matter how we insists that it’s banana he would still call it manga! NKKLK!)
• Mommy (Yes, he can now say Mommy! With matching sigaw pa yan. Before he used to call me as Mama, he still call his Daddy as Papa though.)
• Cellphone
• Pa-pab! (Hi-5)
• Yeyow (Yellow)
• Orange (orange)
• Pepel (Purple)
• Bwu (Blue)
• Cookies
• Shower
• Yipeee!
• Ayus Sky-ler (Cyrus Schuyler, yes that’s his name! He can actually say it now)

Other milestones:
• He can now actually read the letters. Before he can only recite it, but now he can actually distinguish it.
• He can recognize more colors like purple, orange, yellow, and blue. Before he only knew green, but now level up na ang bagets!
• He can solve puzzles in his favorites App.
• He likes art activity.
• He’s no picky eater anymore (prays the Lord!) although it takes him forever before he swallow what he’s eating.
• He doesn’t like sweets, which is good. Really, really good.
• He knows what’s the use of yes and no at marunong na din mamilosopo. One time I was calling him and he didn’t respond to me, so I asked him if he heard what I’m saying and he said “No!”. Ay hindi nga nya ko naririnig! My gulay kang bata ka!
• He learned the art of tantrums although he still give us his crocodille tears. I’m not sure if I will consider this as a milestone though. Hehe
• He also learned the art of running, so his more handful now. Mas nakakapagod na din habulin! As in!
• He knows how to cry now, with real tears ah. Kasi Cyler is not a cry baby, he only cry when he get hurt so badly. And he’s not fearful, most of the time I’m the one who get scared everytime he get hurt. Mas nauuna pa akong umiyak sknya. As in!
• In terms of his social skills, he’s still the friendly little boy I know. But he prefer playing with adults than other kids, maybe because he is always surrounded by adults. But as time goes by I know he will learn how to play with the other kiddos. I’m just happy because he loves being surrounded by many people.
• Aside from counting 1-10, he can now count from 11-20! Medyo sablay pa nga lang but we’re still working on it.

So far those are the things that I remember, hopefully in my next post I could jot down (or remember) more milestones. My only problem with Cyler is that we are having a hard time from weaning him in thumb-sucking. Dra. Vienne says that we can actually put chilli sauce on his thumb to prevent him from thumb-sucking. Actually, we already did that before but it didn’t work. And take note we used the real one, not the chilli sauce pero parang wala lang sa kanya ung anghang! NKKLK talaga! Hopefully we can wean him from that habit before he reach three yrs old. Sana ma-achieve namin yan ng bonggang bongga!

Cliche as it sound but I really can’t imagine how time flies. I can’t believe (or I just can’t accept) that my baby is no longer a baby. Hay. I just want to cherish every moment with my son and I want him to feel that he’s one of the greatest thing that happened in my life! And I want him to feel that he is always loved and not alone. I know time will come and he will be opting to be on his own, so when that time comes I’m pretty sure that he’s ready to face the world.

And yes, I’m looking forward for his more milestones, big or small, whatever it is I will always be a one proud Momma. 🙂

Reunited With My First Love

I mentioned in my previous post how I miss baking so much. After years of not doing it finally I have been reunited to my old love, which is of course baking! I started doing it last month and now I can’t stop myself from doing it all over again! Well, technically I grew up in a family who loves to bake A LOT! At a very young age I was exposed to the world of baking and this is my first-ever-love! When I was younger I used to help my Tita Nanin whenever she bakes. I used to mixed the ingredients and taste the batter using my little fingers. I also love licking(oops! sorry for the word!) and eating those left over batter in the mixing bowl. I guess most of the kids have gone through that! Aminin! This is one of the things that I enjoyed the most before.

When I got married, I stop baking too since there’s no oven in my in-law’s house. So the only time I get to bake is whenever I go to our house in Antipolo. Baking means a lot to me and this is one of our favorite bonding too as a family. Me and my sibling, Isang loves to bake a lot! We’ve tried baking different variety of muffins, carrot cake, chocolate cake, merengue, brazo de mercedes, and cheese cake before but we never tried baking cupcakes. It is actually my first time to bake cupcakes and I love it! Baking is so addicting, I tell yah! Especially when you get a nice compliments from the other people. And it really helps me to pursue my love in baking!

So far here are the cupcakes that I made.

From so-so cupcakes…

Silly Moments with my Toddler (II)

Here’s a dose of my silly moments with my toddler that will surely make you cray-cray!

One morning, I told Cyler to smile in front of the camera and he gave me this gooey-silly-smile with POUTY LIPS!

Can you spot the baby?!

Can you guess where he is?!

There he’s hiding….under the tree! Gusto na niyang ibagsak yung Christmas tree literally, tapos na daw kasi ang Pasko!

Can you guess what’s this or who’s this?

Well, obviously that’s my super-duper kulit son, Cyler!

I guess, he thinks he’s a vampire as he tries to scare everybody using this towel. Edward Cullen lang ang peg!

He’s still sleepy and doesn’t want to get up… but still he was able to managed to play his toy car kahit antok na antok pa sya! Kapag favorite toy, walang antok-antok??! Tsk!

What do you think he’s doing here? Taking a nap or doing yoga?

I leave it to your imagination. :p

Another thing is, when he cries he used to recite the Alphabet. As in may masabi lang talaga sya at may madaldal lang while crying. Could you imagine how funny it is to hear a toddler crying while reciting the alphabet?! NKKLK! That’s why most of the time we ended up..laughing! 🙂

And he used to call banana as MANGO! No matter how we try to tell him that it’s banana he would still insists to call it MANGO! Anong laban ko sa batang makulit diba?! Walang basagan ng trip!

These are just few of my silliest and weirdest moment with Cyler but I know as time goes by dadami pa yan ng bongga bongga! So I need to get ready para hindi maloka. Thank you by the way to those people who always manage to drop by at this blog despite of my absence and lack of post. Thank you so much, I do appreciate it.

Hope this images and scenario’s put smile on your face and brigthen up your day! Happy weekdays ahead! 🙂

Silly Moment with my Toddler

Did you ever feel like there’s someone staring at you or someone’s standing at your back?!

I did! I was doing a solo vanity shot when I found out that my toddler was staring at me at my back. Hehe

What do you think your doing Mommy?!

Nagpro-protesta ang bagets bakit daw nagsosolo ako sa picture! (He was protesting why I didn’t include him in the picture.) Hehe

Tips for Preventing Diabetes in Children During the Holidays by Carolyn Fallon

Last Month, I felt so happy and overwhelmed after reading an email from my fellow blogger who truly appreciates this blog. She even asked me if I am willing to collaborate with her and share her ideas through this blog. I didn’t think twice because I think that’s a nice idea. And of course who am I to refuse? She willinglly share her idea’s and thoughts about this topic and I am happy to share it with y’all.

But before I share this wonderful and helpful tips about preventing diabetes in children, please allow me to introduce the brain and beauty behind this topic.

Her name is Carolyn Fallon, a woman with a passion for life, fitness and overall well-being. She is an avid cycler, golfer and has been known to bust some serious moves on the dance floor. You may check out Carolyn’s blog at http://fullonfit.blogspot.com/.

And there’s the short description about the blogger behind this awesome topic, so here’s what she wrote about preventing diabetes in children that will surely help you and your child.

Tips for Preventing Diabetes in Children During the Holidays

American Diabetes Month (November) might be over, but that doesn’t mean awareness of the disease should be stopped. The holiday season is here, which means there will be a lot of temptation around. Eating too many fattening dishes can make you gain weight and possibly put you at risk of developing diabetes. Adults are not the only ones who are at risk of developing diabetes either. According to information from St. Joseph’s Hospital Cardiac Center, 215,000 people under the age of 20 have been diagnosed with diabetes, and that number continues to increase! It is important to help prevent diabetes in your children during the holidays. One of my cousins was just diagnosed with diabetes, so I have created some strategies that families can use to help prevent diabetes in their own kids during this holiday season.

Feed Your Kids Before You Leave for a Holiday Party
One of the best ways to help your children avoid overeating at holiday parties is to feed them healthy snacks beforehand. For example, if you have a party to go to at 1 p.m., make sure they eat a healthy breakfast and snack beforehand. If they eat something nutritious and filling beforehand, they won’t eat as much at the party.

Bring Your Own Dishes to Parties
If you are worried that there won’t be any healthy dishes at a holiday party, bring some of your own dishes. For example, you can bring some fruit salad or a low-calorie dessert to the party. Encourage your children to eat more of the healthy items at the holiday party.

Exercise With Your Kids
A great way to prevent weight gain and diabetes during the holidays is to exercise with your kids. Working out will help burn off some of those calories and keep your kids active. For example, go on a nice walk with your kids for 30 minutes at least every other day. You could also take a fun exercise class with them such as yoga or aerobics.

Encourage Your Kids to Drink Water With Meals
Sodas and juices can add a lot of extra calories, so encourage your kids to drink water with their meals. Water does not contain any calories (you can always add some fruit or cucumbers in to add some flavor!) and will help your children feel fuller longer so that they eat less.

If you follow these helpful tips, you can help your children stay fit and healthy this holiday season, and start to build healthy habits that can last them for a lifetime.

I learned so many things about this topic and I’m pretty sure it helps everyone too, especially my fellow moms. Let us start this year by eating healthy, proper diet, and exercise because our family’s health is our No. 1 priority. And remember Health is Wealth!

Special thanks to Carolyn Fallon for entrusting me and for allowing me to share this wonderful topic to all my readers. Looking forward on collaborating more with you! You didn’t know how overwhelmed and happy I am. Thanks again, Carolyn. 🙂

KMS Bake: Chocolate and Green Velvet Cupcake

I’ve been so addicted in making cupcakes ever since I started doing it last week. Everybody was asking for it and I can’t help but… do it! Do it! Do it! Last NYE, I decided to make a chocolate and green velvet cupcake for a change, since I made red velvet cupcakes last Christmas. I was really aiming for green velvet cupcakes since green is the color of the year. The chocolate cupcake wasn’t really included in my plans, I just wanted to try it. Singit lang talaga yan. The recipe for the green velvet cupcake is just the same as the red velvet cupcake ( check the recipe here), all you have to do is to use green food coloring instead of red. And viola! There’s your green velvet cuppies! As easy as that!

Technically, this post is dedicated to the chocolate cupcake. 🙂

Chocolates Vs Green Velvet

Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013!

Hi guys! How’s your New Year’s eve?! I hope everyone had a blast! I guess this year was a crazy but a really good year for all of us. It was indeed a memorable year for me and my family too! And I am grateful (and will be forever grateful) that God gave us another year to live, love, and become a better person that we can be. Another year is a constant reminder from God that we are loved and treasure. I know we live in a crazy world but let us not be fearful because God is around us. And let us start this year with hope, courage, positivity, and strength.

Cyler and I took a power nap before media noche, I made sure that Cyler has A LOT of energy for his 2nd NYE. We woke up at exactly 11:45PM, thing is, Cyler didn’t want to be disturbed. And so we don’t have any choice but to forced him to get up. Sorry, sweetie! He was a little bit cranky when he woke up. Of course. Ikaw ba naman ang pilitin gumising. Sakit kaya sa ulo nun?! 🙂

Anyhoo, here’s our simple food for the media noche! 🙂

Fruit Cake from Sweet Recipe

Coin chocolates, candies, chocolate cupcake and green velvet cupcake from your truly. 🙂

13 different kinds of round fruits for more luck!

Buttered veggies

Filipino-style Spaghetti

Ham, Adobo, Menudo, and Lumpiang Shanghai

Fruits Salad, Leche Flan, and different kinds of bread

Meet the Family!

From L-to-R: Me, Cyler, Cj, Ten-Ten, Mommy and Daddy (my in laws), Kuya Francis

Side Kwento: We used to wear red every NYE, but I suggested that we follow the color of the year instead. So starting this year our motif will be based on the color of the year. Kahit fuscia pa yan! GO lang ng GO! LOL! This will be part of our family tradition too. How about you? What’s your family tradition every NYE? 🙂

Emerald green is the color of the year and so we decided to wear… green! Of course! Magulat ka kapag may naka-fenk samin!

This 2013– green is in! 🙂

I noticed that this year the fire works has lessened already compare to the previous years, which I think is good especially for my baby. And I couldn’t be any happier because I celebrated the New Year’s eve together with my family. I know we will surpass everything, whatever comes on our way, and as long as we have each other and as long as God is with us.

And I do believe that God is our source, NOT the world.

Happy New Year!

P.S. Ika nga ni Akazukin Chacha- Pagibig, Katatagan, at Pagasa!..ang ating kailangan para mabuhay sa mundong itech! Wala lang share ko lang. Haha!

Happy New Year!

To My Dearest Friends,

Happy New Year! May we all start this year with a grateful  and blessed heart! And may this New Year bring newly found prosperity, love, Peace, happiness and delight in your life, and your Beloved. Wishing you all the best for this year!

God Bless y’all!

-Cj, Sha, & Cyler
