Booksale: Our Happy Place!

Last Month, we went to our happy place– at the Booksale! Of course! It may sound boring for other people but for us this is definitely our happy place whenever we’re in the mall. That’s the first thing na hinahanap ko talaga once we enter the mall. Sad to say that Booksale are mostly located at SM Malls, wala pa sila sa Ayala Malls. And the nearest Booksale to our place is the one in SM San Lazaro lang. Anyway, last month we purchased another set of books for Cyler! Talk about book hoarding.. you know. Hihi

This time my target is to find and collect books from the Top 100 Classical Children Books of All Time. Medyo nakakahilo and really tiring because you need to have a keen eye and check every book shelves just to get a good books but it’s definitely worth it. I read on Maqui’s post before that most of the Classical books are placed in the lower bookshelves and it’s true! I found most of the classical books in the lower shelves! Thanks for the tip, Maquibels!

Luckily, I was able to purchase 11 books and it only cost Php600++! Not bad for 11 books, right?! And 4 out of 11 books are included on the Top 100 Classical Children Books of All Time! Hooray! Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss, Olivia, Guess How Much I Love You, and How I Became a Pirate are included on the list. Cyler’s top favorites are these books: How Do Dinosaurs Clean Their Room, That Yucky Thing, Walter The Baker, and Blankie!

And while I’m sorting all his books I noticed our HUGE collection of Dr. Seuss books! Andami na pala noh?! Oh I guess we really need a bookshelf! Watchuthink? Hmm…

We also have Dr. Seuss pocket books version. The Tooth Book and There’s a Wocket in my Pocket are Cyler’s favorite!

Oh and look at these! I didn’t realize that we’ve collected 11 books already from the Top 100 Classical Children books. YAY! 89 books to go! LOL! Andami ko pa palang kakaining bigas bago ko to makumpleto! Hahaha! Kalurks!

Now these books are all about the Big D… Dinosaurs! Isn’t it cute?! Cyler loves all these Dinoasaurs books and so do I!

We purchased all these books from Booksale! Boy oh boy, Booksale is love. These books has so many good benefits with my toddler. He learned most of his words from the books. And reading books is one of our favorite bonding too. I find it so relaxing to read books with my son although I’m not really a bookworm. I only learned to love books when Cyler came into my life. And I’m very happy because he really loves books more than I do! And he really really do! ๐Ÿ™‚

A Birthday Letter to Cyler

Dearest Cyler,

Exactly two years ago, I gave birth to a bouncing baby boy namely Cyrus Schuyler. Cliche as it may sound but having you, son in my life makes me feel that I’m the richest and happiest Mommy on earth! It’s the kind feeling that I don’t wanna let go, not even in a glimpse. I felt overwhelmed with love, and it felt like it was spilling over. So proud to be the mom of this little boy and I wouldn’t trade it for any other title. Do you know that you are the reason why I appreciate your Lola more? Yes, its all because of you– you showed me and taught me the real meaning of motherhood. Our life (your Dad and I) has been change ever since you were born, anak. We become more selfless and responsible because of you. Before you came into my life, I am once a happy-go-lucky who don’t really care about the future and the world, and now I worry too much about your future. Mom and Dad are working hard so we could secure your future and so that you don’t have to worry about us when we grow old. Did I just say growing old? I can’t believe you’re two years old now! As I write this I’m just staring at you while you’re sleeping and I can’t believe how much you’ve change. You looks like a big boy now! Before you were just a little boy who only knows how sleep, eat, and poop. And now you’re a very demanding and independent toddler who loves to do things on his own. Sometimes you’re hardheaded and you just want to do things on your own. And last Saturday, you attended your first toddler class! Now it’s all about school and never-ending-play-dates! I’m having a bitter-sweet feeling now because it’s happening far too quickly.

Last Sunday, we did an advance celebration of your 2nd birthday and I’m not sure if you knew that it’s your birthday party. But you kept on singing the birthday song when you saw your birthday cake, yes you really love to sings A LOT! Again, for the Nth time… how time flies! My goodness! I know I’m not the first mother to have been swept right off my feet by the sheer joy and passion of motherhood. There’s no amount of description could ever say what kind of joy you have brought into my life, it was pure and sheer joy. This love I have for you, it’s hard to describe, yet easy to feel. It is an unconditional love– once it grips you and hold your heart , your life is transform forever.

As I write this post I’m struggling intensely with putting all these wonderful feelings into words– it’s just a ball of emotions, perceptions, thoughts and feelings. Let this song tells what I feel for you, sweetie. Alright, so what else can I say, anak? I just want you to become God-fearing and be the person you want to be when you grow up. And when you decided to go off and spread your wings and become independent I want you to remember all the happiest and craziest things that we did together. When the time comes that you fall and your heartbroken don’t forget to look back where you left me, because I’m just standing there waiting for you. I’ll tap your back (and poke your head!) and give you a power hug. And I’ll simply tell you “sabi naman sayo sasaktan ka lang nun eh, makulit ka eh! Konyatan kita dyan eh!”. ๐Ÿ™‚

Now you’re wide awake and I guess it’s time to end this post because we have lots of surprises for you today, remember it’s your special day– your BIRTHday! We will celebrate this special day like it’s your 1st Birthday!

HAPPY, HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY, CYLER!!!! I love you to the moon and back!

Wyeth ProMama Mama YES You Can! Event

When I was pregnant with my firstborn (my one and only child…at least for now) child, Cyler I was really paranoid and I didn’t know what to do then because I have no idea about pregnancy. Everything was change, my body was changing drastically and I really don’t know what to do. When I announced about my pregnancy, I was bombarded with homespun advice from family, friends and even strangers who base their beliefs on hearsay or accepted ideologies. I heard A LOT of pregnancy myths when I was pregnant and most of the time I ended up getting more confuse and upset because of these so many “can’t” during pregnancies. So I always read books, ask my OB, read parenting magazine, and I always ask my very reliable source, Mr. Google. But still…it’s not enough. They say if you’re pregnant maraming bawal at hindi dapat for you and your baby– they say you can’t exercise, you can’t eat this, you can’t eat that, you can’t travel, you can’t do this, you can’t do that, yadah-yadah…. mainly because it may harm your baby and most of the time it only confuse us especially the first time Moms. That’s why I feel grateful and blessed to become part of Wyeth ProMama Yes You Can! event held at Lolo Dad’s Brassiere last Wednesday, May 15, 2013. The event aims to empower all expectant moms against pregnancy myths and misconceptions. I learned SO much in this event and so I wanted to share it to y’all. I’m pretty sure it will help you a lot too, especially all the expectant Mommies out there! You’re lucky if you read this post because this post will enlighten you so much, just like it did to me.

What Keeping Me Busy These Days

Hello, hello! How’s everybody here?! I miss all of you already especially this little space of mine. Hay grabe! My goodness! Let’s do some catch up muna ah before I go to bed namiss ko na kayo eh kahit ako di ninyo ko namiss…chos! I didn’t notice that it’s been a week since I visited my blog! Super kaduper busy ng lola ninyo the whole week! As in! Kayod marino lang ang peg! Oh well, I bet most of the time people are really busy but I guess I’m 100x busier this week compare to the previous week. And you know what? Today, I went home at around 2:45AM from work…imagine?! My gulay! We have a project deadline that we have to meet and we’re so ngaragers na talaga to the highest level. Well, ang ending hindi pa rin namin tapos due to so many conflicts! I’m getting home late this past few days because of this project! Anyway, let’s change topic ang sakit sa ulo pag work ang topic eh noh? Baka ma-stress lang din kayo. Well aside from all the stress of course andyan pa rin ang nagbibigay ng happiness sa buhay ko– my friends and most especially my two baby boys (Cj and Cyler!). Even though I used to go home really late Cyler patiently waits for me until I get home and were inseparable once I enter our doorstep. And I’m back to myself once I see my son and my husband. Garantisadong tanggal ang mga ka-stressan ko sa buhay! They bring a never-ending joy to my life!

And of course, pag gising pa ang bagets I’d rather choose be with him than to write a post. So that’s why I’m really having a hard time to write a post during weekdays. During weekends naman, fully booked din ang schedule namin and pag nasa house lang kami I make sure that he’s sleeping already when I blog because he will surely drag me out of the computer. That’s why most of time I write a post while I’m on my way to work using my mobile, so I have my reason for my wrong grammar and spelling. LOL!

And also aside from getting busy with my work I also have a very demanding sideline which keeps me busier than everrr! Last week, I had an order for Mother’s day so I baked and customized the cupcake designs just for this special occasion. And here’s my finish product.

I finished doing that around 2 in the morning and was so groggy when I came to the office the next day. Now tell me, who has time?

Then last Sunday (that’s Mother’s day) we went to Laguna and rented a private resort together with my relatives. And boy oh boy did we have the most wonderful time ever! I’ll share it another post too because it really deserves to be remember and treasure forever. ๐Ÿ™‚

Day 2 at Canyon Cove: Beach Bumming and more Tanning!

Good morning guys! Belated Happy Mother’s day to all your amazing Mommies, single Daddies, Mom-to-be, and Mother figure out there! How did you spend your Mother’s Day? I hope you give all your Mom’s a special treat and I hope hindi lang pag Mother’s Day nio sila bigyan ng special treat sana everyday! Kami naman, we spent the Mother’s Day at Laguna, we rented a private resort in Pansol, we swim, eat, and play all day long! We did have fun! I’ll share it another post. Anyhoo, today let me just share my pending post about my Birthday trip last month, sorry it took me so long, I’m in whirlwind last week so I didn’t have the chance to visit this little space of mine. Sorry for that. Anyhoo, let’s start now.

Our day 2 here in Canyon cove was spent mostly at the beach, beach bumming that is. Tinodo na namin at nagpaka-negro’t negra na kami to the highest level! Who cares about our skin color?! Tan is in! You know! ๐Ÿ˜›

We’re not a morning person (alam ninyo yan!) but surprisingly we woke up so early that day! As in early– 6AM in the morning! Isang malaking himala! Cyler knew that we were going to swim that day that’s why he woke up early. Beach lang pala ang katapat nitong mag-ama ko eh. We ate our breakfast inside the room, we ate the leftover hashbrown from Bag of Beans and we brought some instant cup noodles(Thanks again Em for the heads up about the food!). I asked the receptionist how much is their breakfast and she said that it cost Php300/plate and Php600 if you want to upgrade for buffet and we found it too mahalia (pricey)! To think that they only serve ordinary breakfast and I read lots of rants about their food. So in short, hindi na namin kinuha it’s not worth it eh. We just brought our own food for our brekky. One of my mistakes then was that I didn’t read the voucher carefully, I thought the breakfast was included in the deal hindi pala. My fault. Anyway, after having breakfast, off to the beach we went! And boy did we have the most wonderful time eveeeeer!

The boys played on the sand while I’m busy capturing their father-and son moments. Cj tried to build a sand castle however our super duper kulit toddler kept on destroying the castle that he made. HAHAHA! Mag-ama nga sila! So ang ending, walang sand castle na nabuo! LOL! We were at the beach as early as 7am (imagine?!) and good thing the sun wasn’t too hot. We intended to go there that early kasi ibang level ang init ng araw ngayon, hindi normal at hindi rin nakakatuwa! So we stayed there for about an hour then we transferred to the pool again. We all had the time of our life! We did enjoy the sun, sand, and the water so much! Sa sobrang enjoy namin ayaw na naming umuwi! I bet your wondering kung bakit ganyan ung shades ko, parang Cyclops lang ang peg noh? That’s my eyeglasses kasi, I was too lazy to wear my contact lenses that time and besides baka maanod sa tubig, and I can’t leave without my eyeglasses kaya pinag tyagaan ko nalang din. Fashion statement din yan, Cyclops sunglasses! LOL! So there, just so you know. ๐Ÿ˜›

After enjoying the water, we went back to our room and get ready for our check out. Cyler and I had a warm bubble bath again, sulit na sulit ang bath tub samin! I told yah I love bath tub so mucho!

And before we left the place, we did photo ops galore!! We had an amazing time here in Canyon Cove! We will surely come back here maybe with other set of friends. Wanna come? Cyler had a great great time and he did enjoy his first-ever-beach trip with us! Yay! Cj and I will start a family tradition, we will go to the beach every summer since we loves the water and sand so much!

We had our lunch at Buon Giorno, The Cliff house Tagaytay, this is one of our favorite place here. We’ve been here a couple of times (you can read it here and here) and we never get tired of eating here. Whenever were here, we make sure to drop by here in Buon Giorno. We ordered our favorite food in our favorite resto! ๐Ÿ™‚

I really really love the ambiance of this resto, it’s very cozy and inviting. And it makes you want to stay longer for a nice chit-chat.

We ordered pasta which I forgot the name, New York Pizza, and Mango shake. We love the pasta so much it’s so delish and it’s a bit spicy which I like the most. Cj ordered New York pizza, his favorite! We tried this pizza before and surprisingly mas gusto ko sya ngaun. I don’t know, blame my tastebud! And I love the mango shake simply because it taste soooo good! It’s creamy and full of flavor! Meron kasing mango shake na color yellow lang pero it taste bland. After our sumptuous lunch, we ate Mochi at Mochiko! I don’t like buying Mochiko here in Manila kasi ang tigas tigas sobra! Pero the one in Tagaytay ang bilis nya lumambot, maybe because super frozen na yung mga nandito sa Manila. They said Mochiko in Tagaytay is their main branch. Anyway, we all had a great time! It was super fun! Our tummy was full and hearts was filled with so much joy that we can’t really hide in our faces! My goodness, I can’t wait for our next family trip!

Since I’m the planner in our family, can you help me find our next family trip destination? And it must be child-friendly! Any comments and suggestions? ๐Ÿ™‚

Missing Him So Much!

Oh my, it’s only Tuesday and there are three more days to go before the weekend, I miss my little boy already! I miss his never ending “Oh no!” and his never ending laughters! And even the songs that he loves to sing over and over again, and all the kisses and cuddling! I miss all his lambing! I miss everything about him!

Mommies did you ever feel this kind of longing even if you always see your kids most of the time? Parang kulang parati ang oras to be with them noh especially when you’re working. Is it just my hormones that I have this longing for my son at this moment? Or it’s just that I really miss him? Sorry for the drama but I just miss my son so much! I miss him so badly, I’m still at work now and I have so many things to do, so many project deadlines, my goodness! So little time too many things to do! Oh God, I miss my son so badly!

Just wanna share his video that I keep on watching while I’m working because I miss him so badly. This little boy never fail to amuse and surprise me.

Is it 7pm already? Not yet? Oh boy! I wanna go home and be with my baby! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I hope he’s still awake when we get home. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Blog Inspired: Knowing And Redefining Our Purpose in Blogging

Photo grabbed from Martine de Luna of Dainty Mom

Alright, so here it is! This post has been sitting on my drafts for two weeks now, finally I have gathered my inner thoughts (gumagana na rin ang mga brain cells ko!) and I think this is the best and right time to post this. Let’s all start our week with a very inspiring post and a grateful heart. Last April 20, 2013, Saturday I attended the Blog Inspired workshop hosted by these four very inspiring and powerful women: Martine de Luna of DaintyMom, Toni Tiu of Wifely Steps, Jayme Gatbonton of OptiMommy, and Michelle Padrelanan of Beyond Silver and Gold. I’ve been waiting for this workshop ever since I started blogging because I’m still in the phase wherein blogging isn’t so clear to me, newbie blogger that is. We all know that in this generation, everyone can create blogs in just one click and become a “blogger” in an instant, BUT not everyone knows their real purpose in blogging.I notice that most bloggers now are just blogging for the sake of earning money through advertorials (which I admit, I am one of them…before) and because they want to be popular, I can’t blame them because everyone needs money for living and wants to be recognize. I used to be like that too… but that was before. As time goes by, I found my real purpose in blogging and this workshop helps me a lot in redefining and improving my purpose in blogging.

Photo grabbed from Martine

These lovely ladies here are not just my online (and offline) friends, they’re my sisters! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s the essential things that I learned from the workshop and it really helps me a lot. I hope it helps you too.

1. Build your Foundation
Most of the time we were always rushing to reach the top and we tend to forget our real purpose in blogging, so we ended up regretting and getting disappointed at the end. Bear in mind that it’s more important to build something strong rather than building it high and at the end it will easily fall. Just take it one baby step at a time. Like you, I also started this blog with nothing. I don’t have any readers or subscribers but I just continue writing (kahit sablay) until I captured someone’s heart. And from then everything follows. I was surprise because I didn’t know that I am actually inspiring a lot of people even in some part of this planet. And then I started receiving emails and messages from other people saying that I’m one of their inspirations as a Mother. And it really touches my heart, that’s why I become more inspired to write. One of my boss says that she’s a reader of my blog and she always tell me that she feels really happy everytime she reads my blog, and I feel grateful about it. Who would’ve thought that I will inspire a lot of people through this blog? I admit that I’m not a good writer but when I write something I make sure that I put my heart on it– passion and love are my only key. If you’re planning to create a blog or you’re a newbie blogger (like me) just take it easy and take one little step at a time, build a strong foundation for your blog and that foundations starts within you.

2. Define Your Purpose in Blogging
I started this blog because I initially wanted to document my child’s milestones and my family’s memories, just in case I feel lonely or when the time comes wherein I can no longer remember everything, at least I have something that I can look at. Before, I was also focus on the number of my daily viewers until I lose my confident with my posts because I felt like nobody’s reading it, then I realized that I created this blog not because of popularity but to inspire other people. I redefine my purpose in blogging and I stop looking at the numbers of my viewers. At first I never intended to use my blog to help other people most especially mommies, but as time goes by I realized that I should use this blog to reach out and inspire other people. So from then I found my real purpose in blogging and that is to use my passion in baking, kakikayan, talking (since I’m bad in writing), and most especially my love for my family to inspire and motivate other people so that they live satisfied, happy, contented, feel blessed on what they have, and find their real purpose in life. Like me, you must also know your real purpose in blogging. Is it for earning or inspiring? Write something that you are really passionate with. All of us are created unique by God so don’t be a copycat, make you’re own statement and find your real purpose in blogging. That is something na hahanap hanapin ng mga readers mo, your authenticity and the uniqueness of your blog. Finding your purpose is like walking with your eyes wide open and you know where to go. Look for your inspiration, it will help you define your real purpose in blogging. Me, I found my inspiration with my family that’s why I created this blog to help other parents especially the working parents (like me) on raising their family despite of their very demanding career. Our purpose doesn’t come in a snap, it takes time. So don’t hurry, take your time.

“Use your blog as a catalyst to live your best life” – Holly Becker

“Prioritize inspiring, not earning” – Michelle Padrelanan

3. Be Yourself and Believe in Yourself
This is such a strong word, I know. Remember the saying– you must love yourself first and everything else will fall into line? Blogging is also a journey, it must start with yourself and not with anybody else.

“We are all meant to shine, as children do” -Mariane Williamson

Always believe in yourself and use your life purpose. Again, don’t be a copycat,we were born unique. Being a copycat will make you look more unprofessional and it will ruin your self-confidence. I am also a victim of those copycat (not once but twice!) and I know how it feels when somebody steals your own identity. And to tell you the truth, I am very disappointed with them. Sometimes it’s okay to be inspired by someone but do not copy every detailed of their life to the point wherein you copy almost everything they do, especially the things that they write. That’s plagiarism and that’s against the law. Aminin natin, usong uso yan ngayon. Bear in mind that nobody loves copycat. And also, your reader knows if your post is sincere or your just being plastik (sorry for the term). BE YOURSELF and BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. Make sure that all your post are worth your readers precious time and it must be something na babalik-balikan nila. And also when you copy someone’s idea don’t forget to acknowledge the site or the blogger. That’s very important in blogging, be professional. And remember that we are here to inspire people and not to over step one another. Be inspired by your “now” and “aha” moments and be yourself.

4. Connection
Strong connection is very important in blogging. If you want to introduce yourself to others and stay connected, you must reach out. Try visiting other blogs and leave comments so that they will know you better. Join blog communities or group, I tell you it’s a big help. They will motivate and help you a lot. Before I became a blogger I’m also a reader and lurker like everyone else. But when I started this blog I learned how to reach out although I’m really mahiyain. Walang masama if you introduce yourself, at least you give it a try.

And also target your readers heart, if you don’t hook your readers, you will loose them forever. Always give your readers something to look forward to. For example, offer unique features, give a little giveaways, show and tell your stories that come’s from your heart. Your heartfelt stories are very powerful compared to the one that copy from google. Be more realistic and creative. And also use the language that you are comfortable with, the language that you are using depends on your target readers. Personally, I only use simple words most of the time because I’m not as good as Shakespear when it comes to writing and sometimes I used taglish pag hindi ko na keri at dumudugo na talaga ang ilong ko (gaya ngayon! Teehee!). For me it’s better to make things simple than making your post complicated. Ikaw lang ang mahihirapan and the same time maguguluhan lang ung reader mo. I am 100% sure na maiintidihan at magugustuhan pa rin yan ng readers mo as long as it comes from the heart. I have readers from the other side of the planet but still they always understand what I’m trying to say. And also find a tribe that sync with your purpose. The connection always begins within you and not with anybody else. Again, start within yourself. Build a strong connection, not just connection connection but “real friendship” with your fellow bloggers and readers. And don’t forget to thank them. I’m really grateful because I gained a lot of real and true friends through blogging, also through this blog I found a great group who supports me (my sissies!) all the time, and it feels so good to be surrounded with good and positive people. Now, that’s what I call strong connection. ๐Ÿ™‚

We are SISTER’s!

I hope these pieces of advices from these four inspiring ladies inspired you the way it inspired me. This workshop is so empowering and inspiring! I’m looking forward on working again and connecting with all these ladies real soon. Thanks again Martine, Jayme, Toni, and Michelle for inspiring all of us! I appreciate all your time, efforts, and devotion for this workshop, it helped us a lot! I’m more excited now for my blog and I have so many exciting plans for it and I want all of you to become part it! I believe that we can all do it because we got each others back, don’t we? ๐Ÿ™‚

How about you? What’s your purpose in blogging? Any tips and suggestions? Please share your thoughts I’d love to hear from you!

3 Summer Must-Haves Make Up!

Let’s talk about muk-up today! I actually wanted to post the things that I learned from the Blog:Inspired workshop but I’m still collecting my thoughts, I guess a make-up review is the best warm up for my dead sleeping brain cells. It’s been a long time since I posted something related to kikay stuff(you can read it here and here), make up review to be exact. I bet you all know that I am really kikay (inside and out!), it runs in our blood. And it’s pretty obvious in the name of my blog. Teehee! Anyway, two weeks ago, I went makeup shopping together with these three fabulous Mommies, Maqui, Ate Maggie, and Erl and we discovered new cosmetics. Ate Maggie and I helped Maqui and Erl to choose the right make-up for them but we ended up buying for ourselves too! HAHA! Oh well, what do you expect? I’m a sucker of good cosmetics! Anyhoo, choosing the right cosmetics during summer is a bit challenging especially when keeping your make-up looking fresh and pretty. I know usong-uso ang mud slide pag summer that’s why I come up to this idea of sharing my newly discovered cosmetics to y’all. These make-ups are perfect for summer, it’s a must-have baby!

Look It’s About Me: Personalized StoryBooks and Gifts

When I was a small kid I always had this dream of being the protagonist in my own story. I remember when we were young, my siblings and I used to had this “make-believe” play wherein all of us are the main character of the story. And you know what? I always play the mother role especially when we were playing bahay-bahayan. Even when I was a kid I love being a Mom na talaga, that’s why I do believe that motherhood is my calling in life. I was really born to become a Mom and nurture my family, that’s my purpose in life.

Anyhoo, back to the main topic…. so when I found this personalized storybook online I got so giddy and excited about it because I know for sure that my little bookworm will surely like it. My fellow mom bloggers kept on posting in IG about the book and I got so curious and I was really amazed. It never came across my mind that you (or even me!) can be the protagonist or main character in the book. Kasi most of the time when you buy a book the whole story was already there but you’re not part of the character. That’s why this personalized story book sounds really cool, unique, and so amazing for me. Would it be great if your child becomes the star of their own tale?! Of course! Lahat ng tao gusto maging bida kahit sa book lang. ๐Ÿ™‚
