Kikay Finds: The Face Shop WaterProof AutoLiner and Gel EyeLiner

What part of your body is your best asset? Mine is my eyes and nope! it’s not a self-proclaimed. Most people says that they love my eyes most especially when I don’t wear my eye-glasses and it get dolled up. They say that my eyes are so expressive (maybe because it’s big!). If some women can’t leave their house without their brows, well in my case I can’t leave the house without my eye liner!

KMS Christmas Shopping at Divisoria

Today I am sharing my first Christmas shopping experience at Divisoria. I went there two weeks ago together with my MIL and my BIL, Kuya Francis. Actually, this was an impromptu trip and I don’t usually go to Divi during peak season because I know that the place is really crowded most especially during this Christmas season. Surprisingly, it’s not as crowded as I thought when we braved the shopping capital of the Philippines, Divisoria. Maybe because we went there during weekdays? I don’t know. It’s kinda weird but I was really surprised and happy because it was my first time to go Christmas shopping at Divi. We went there during lunch time and the place was surprisingly not crowded (as it should be) and the traffic was still tolerable.

I am not just sure if the situation these coming days are still the same because Christmas is fast approaching and Filipino loves cramming, right? Nevertheless, you still have time to go Christmas shopping coz there’s still 10 more days to go before Christmas.

Alright, so let’s move on now with my Christmas loots from Divi and I hope you get some Christmas shopping idea from it. I know you’ve been all waiting for this so here it is! 🙂

Shopping Spells

I salute all Work-At-Home-Moms because aside from being a home-maker on top of that still they manage to earn extra money for their family. Taking good care of your kids and doing household chores at the same time is no joke , it needs a lot of patience, time, and energy. It can be exhausting at some time. So just imagine how these women manage their time, effort, and energy.

Today, I will feature a WAHMderful mom and a dear friend of mine. Her name is Erlaine, she also shares her adventure (and misadventures) of being a mom on her wonderful blog Glamma Momma. She’s also a certified momprenuer and a full time Mom to Kelsea. Erl graduated as an engineer and worked as an analyst programmer for 4.5 years. She’s an analyst programmer but deep inside of her, she’s a salesperson. While working she also sells pillows, organic soaps, hand-made bracelets and even cellphone load to her officemates, that’s how business minded she is.

She also said that when she’s in high school, she would buy packs of imported chocolate and sell them retail to her classmates. She also tried selling bracelets back then and her earnings were used to buy pocketbooks because that what she loves to read. So you can really see how business minded she is. All her profit went straight to her savings which later on were used for their wedding and down payment for their home. When she became a mom, her desire to be an entreprenuer grew even more. So she said goodbye to the corporate world and worked on her husband’s business and later on she decided to put up her online shop. Then she became a mompreneur way back in 2008. And Shopping Spells was born.

See how her determination and diligence brought her to success. That’s why I really admire and salute this woman. Giving up your career is really difficult but she made it. Well I hope someday I can do the same thing too. I’m in the process now and I’m doing it one baby step at a time. 🙂

And here’s Erl’ words of encouragement to those who would like to become an entrepreneur:

Not all of us are born with a silver spoon and can easily put up a business. So for those who would like to start a business, start small but dream big. Take one step at a time. Take risks and face all the challenges that come your way. Know what inspires you and do what you love. This will lead you to your dreams.

I’m just also starting as an entrepreneur and still needs to go along way to meet my dreams. So I’m open to suggestions and criticisms when it comes to my products and managing my small business because I believe there is always room for improvement.

I hope she inspired you in her own little way, just like what she did to me. Erl is a picture of an inspiring and courageous woman who’s willing to do everything for the sake of her family. Hat’s off to you, Erl and to all WAHMderful moms out there! 🙂

Join KikayMommySha’s 1st Blogversary Giveaway!

Don’t you just love handmade crafts?! I do. Thing is, I don’t have the talent and patience in doing it. That’s why I really admire those people who are really good in making handmade crafts. One of my fellow mompreneur friend, Em recently opened her online store to the public.  She used to sell handmade classic hairpieces for little girls. She’s the mom behind the blog Akira and Everything nice, like me she used to share her momventures too. She is also a good friend of mine, I met her through blogging. She’s a full-time MOM (hat’s off to all full-time Mommy!) with Akira and wifey with Fafa Khan. I really admire this lady because aside from being a full-time Mom and wifey, still she manage to put up her online business. This Momma is really good inside and out, I tell you. And has a great sense of humor! She’s very talented not to mention artistic, you can actually see it in most of her handmade hairpieces.

M+K = a  is the name of her online shop, pang international lang ang name ng shop noh?! Name palang bongga na!

Here’s some words of wisdom and encouragement from this superwoman that will surely inspire all of you.

What inspired you to start a business?
One reason why I started designing headbands for little girls was because my daughter wasn’t a fan of girl-y accessories. I had this idea that maybe, if her favorite cartoon character (which isn’t easy to find, by the way) would be made as an accessory, she might wanna try wearing one.
The decision to sell my hair accessories and accept made to order cartoon felt headbands came in later after a few of my friends saw my potential and convinced me to sell my creations.

Encouraging words for the readers who would like to start or improve their business.
Find your passion and always give your 101% best in every craft that you do. If you are good at something, people will acknowledge it. Try to be creative in so many ways. Know that people from all walks of life, can teach you something. Learn from them.

Here’s some of her art work (yes, for me handmade crafts is a form of artwork as long as it involves love and dedication)

All Things Made with TLC At The Wagon Shop

You know what, one of my frustrations in life is being creative. Lahat ng kaartehan sa mundo sinalo ko except for one thing– being creative. Tulog ata ako nun or nagtutulog-tulugan lang ako ng nagsabog si Lord ng creative juices. I’ve always wanted to be someone who was able to do craft because I’m not really good in it. I’m trying kaso parating FAIL! Epic fail that is. Cj would always laugh at me whenever I try to sew my clothes, ganun ako ka-fail sa bagay na yan. Most especially when I try making hand crafts dyan ako super sablay I tell you. I’d rather buy ready made than doing it all by myself. Tamad na wala pang creativity– that’s me when it comes to craft. That’s why I really admire those people who are really good in making crafts.

One of the people that I really admire the most when it comes to handmade craft is Pepper, she and her sister are really good in it! Pepper is the mom behind the blog “Days in a Wagon” like me she also shares her momventures thru her blog. Also, she is the brain and beauty behind “The Wagon Shop“. I really admire this lady because she already wear so many hats but still on top of that, still she was able to manage her business and her family at the same time. She is definitely a super Mom! Kung pwede lang sabitan ng crown si Pepper, ginawa ko na! And did I mention that aside from being talented she’s also very pretty?! She really is! I was star struck at her when I saw her last February in our grand playdate. I told her that she’s really beautiful but she’s very humble and still deny the fact that she’s pretty. She is such a very down to earth person.

The Wagon Shop

We did had a little Q&A portion and I am so honored to share it with y’all.

1.) What inspired you to start your business?

“Our passion and big love for handmade things inspired me and my big sister to come up with an online shop where all things are carefully hand crafted. Handmade things have so much character in them and are usually one of a kind.”

2.) Encouraging words for the readers who would like to start or improve their business.

“Utilize each and every talent that you have. Success will not happen overnight that’s a fact. It will take time and you have to believe in your product — improve what has to be improved and give it your all. Not everyone is a fan of handmade things or crafts but there are people out there who “nerd” about the same things as you do — And they are your niche. Use every tool you have to help spread the word about your business. The internet is a big help but the good ol’ fashioned “word of mouth” is still the most powerful tool so make sure you give your clients good, quality, well crafted items and your off to a good start.”

These are some of my favorites products from The Wagon Shop that really caught my attention, such an eye-candy!

Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas

Are you done with your Christmas shopping today?! Me, not yet! I’m still in need of last-minute gift ideas! Today is the start of my looong holiday vacay, btw. And why am I telling you this? Well, I just am so happy because I have more time for my bulilit.  And I am more happy because I did a lot of accomplishments today. I did the laundry, it’s my husband who usually does it but this time it’s my turn to do it. I cleaned our messy room, I gave Cyler a bath, I prepared his food, and while he’s taking a nap I made a cupcake! It was my first time to do it and I’m really happy with the result. I’m soooo excited to share it with you guys! Well, I made a red velvet cupcake today, yes I made it! It’s a no bake cupcake. So wait for my post about that. Those are my side kwento for today.  Anyhoo, going back to my topic I guess most of you are done with your Christmas shopping but I just wanna share some gift ideas for those people who are not yet done with their Christmas gifts. These are the gifts that I personally bought for my friends and family.

Gifts for kids:

Mickey Mouse coin bank (Php79)

I purchased this super cute mickey coin bank at Toys R Us, Greenbelt 5 but I believe these are available in all Toys R Us branches. By giving this coin bank you are teaching the kids the value of saving money, and it can be a toy too at the same time, depends on child’s imagination. 🙂

Cars School supply set (Php25)

I purchased this set at the Bazaar near our office. I’ll give it to my nephew who are already studying. I’m pretty sure that this will be a big hit to them! Most boys love cars, like my Cyler. 🙂

Polkadots dress (Php50)

Kikay Finds: The Body Shop Moringa Beautifying Oil

Hello everyone! My goodness, I haven’t updated this blog since last week. A lot of things have made me busy lately– Christmas parties, project deadlines (work!work!work!), family(as always and forever!), dance rehearsal for the Christmas presentation, household chores, and A LOT more! Oh and did I mention that I haven’t started buying Christmas gifts?! Shocks! Could you imagine what’s the date today?! Oh-My-Gulay to the highest and maximum level talaga! Nakakaloka!!! Gusto kong mag-cartwheel! Mas busy pa ata ako sa busy bee! Tee hee! I need to do a lot of catch up here, ladies and gentlemen so please bear with me! There are thousands of things that I wanted to share with you but I have so little time to share it. Alright, so I guess a beauty review is a nice starter and (hopefully) will bring me back into the blogging world.

I soo love this season and I bet you too! But there’s one thing I hate about the Christmas season– it’s my driest skin season eveerrr! As in! Just two weeks ago, I’ve been battling with my dry skin especially on my face (it’s disgusting, I tell ya), I’ve tried lotsa moisturizer but nothings working! I felt so bad because my face looked like I had an-an, as in! Super nagbabalat talaga siya, kulang nalang peeler kumpleto na! But of course kawawa naman ang peslak ko kung gagamitan ko ng peeler diba?! So there.. my battle begun. I’ve recently been loving the Moringa scent and so the beautifying oil I chose was in Moringa. The beautifying oils are dry oils which can be used on face, body, and hair which are meant to moisturise, smooth, and illuminate. I usually use this oil on my hair and body, I tried using it on my face before but my face got irritated so I stopped using it. However just a few weeks ago, I felt that I had no choice and so I gave it another shot, surprisingly it works! In less than a week it it brings back the moisture of my super-duper-uber-mega-dry-face! I used to apply it every night before bed time and viola! I wake up in the morning with a supple, smooth, and moisturised face in the morning! It was fantastic because in less than one week I saw the effect in my face! It’s not advisable for those who have oily skin because it will make your skin more oily since it’s an oil based.

The Body Shop Moringa Beautifying Oil

If you’re not into this particular scent there’s a ton of other scent to choose from such as Olive, Coconut, Shea, Strawberry, Mango and many more! So there is definitely a scent for everyone! I soo love the smell of moringa, for me it smells divine! My sister loves the smell too! It’s a really, really nice body oil – easy to massage in, light-textured, and beautifully scented. It works marvellously all over my body not to mention on my face! It’s a fantastic all-rounder for beauty nerds (like me!) and people on the go. Oh how I love using it on my hair too! It moisturize my dry and damage hair naturally. And it leaves a lovely scent to my hair! If you also want to apply this on your face I suggest that you try it first because that’s the most sensitive part of our skin and we have different skin types too so you better be careful on using it! Remember, not all beautifying products will work on your skin especially when you have a very sensitive skin type like mine. If it doesn’t suit to your skin then stop using it, alright?! But I just am glad and happy (actually giddy) because finally I was able to solve my skin problem! Woo hoo! So next time when the dry skin season comes around again, I know I’m ready for the battle! And I am trusting nothing but The body shop Moringa beautifying oil. 🙂

How about you?! Have you tried any of The Body Shop’s beautifying oil?!

Mommy Finds: Ceres and Tipco 100% Fruit and Veggie Juices

Finding ways to healthify our kid’s meal is one of our biggest challenge as a mom, especially in this modern age.  So when it comes to my son’s food I make sure that I always give him the best food, and when I say the best food it means it should be nutritious (of course!) because I want Cyler to get proper nutrition. Awa ng Diyos, di pa naman sya anti-veggie like his Dad. Amen to that! Anyhoo, there are lots of fruit juices in the market who claimed to be nutritious (well I guess they are), but Tipco and Ceres fruit and veggie juices are the chosen one who passed my criteria. Aside from the refreshing and yummy taste, I also am sure that it is 100% made from fresh fruits and veggies! These healthy and yummy juices are pack with nutrients! High in fiber and vitamin C!  Cyler and I loves these juices so much! Ceres Cranberry and Tipco Broccoli are absolutely our favorites!

Tipco and Ceres 100% Fruit and Veggie Juice

Tipco and Ceres 100% Fruit and Veggie Juice

How did I discovered these healthy juices?! Well, I discovered Ceres at some random food magazine. When we had our weekly grocery I only purchased two Ceres juices (in case the little one didn’t like it) and when Cyler tasted it…. surprisingly he did liked it! He surely did! Since then Ceres juice is always staple in our grocery list. As in hindi pwedeng mawala, kundi magwawala ang bagets! 🙂

Then I discovered Tipco veggie juices to Em. When I posted the above picture of Cyler on IG, she asked me if I tried Tipco already and I said not yet. So she highly recommended this juice to me. I didn’t think twice, of course that’s Em, a fellow mom who is also concerned when it comes to child’s nutrition. We both know what’s the best for our kids, so when she told me about this I followed my mommy senses and bought this Tipco juices right away! Madali naman akong kausap at masunurin pa! So walang keme-keme, bili agad! I like to add variety by buying a couple of other flavors each week. And in fairness, we all like it so much! Well, I’m still working on the Daddy kasi marinig pa lang nya ung word na veggie hinihimatay na! Kalerks diba?! Nawawalan daw sya ng gana pag nakakakita siya ng gulay, josme! So can you imagine all the challenges (and burden) I am encountering in our everyday meal?!

It’s the first liquid that he drinks every morning!

And you know what’s the best part of buying these healthy juices? It’s not so pricey unlike the other juices in the market! So swak na swak sa budget ng mga Mommies! Tipco juices only costs Php24.00 to Php28.00 per pack, the price varies on the veggies. While Ceres juice costs Php21.oo petot only, now how good is that?! Really good! These juices has no flavoring, no preservatives, no coloring and no sugar added! Bonggels! And I love the fact that the sweetness comes naturally in the fruit! And you know what?! I recently found out that Tipco is the number 1 juice brand in Thailand! O diba bonggels na bonggels?! Special thanks to Em for introducing Tipco juices to us! We love the Broccoli juice so much, you’re right super yummy nga! 🙂

So what are you waiting for?! Buy na! Tipco and Ceres 100% Juices are available in all leading groceries and supermarket!

Happy Staycation!

One long weekend a couple of weeks ago (yes, this is part of our family trips backlogs), we went to Antipolo (my howetown) and stayed at Mama’s place. We arrived there at Friday afternoon then we went back to Manila on Saturday afternoon. We stayed there for two days and 1 night only because we need to go back to Manila before Sunday morning as Cj has to work on that day. BOOOO! Our stay there was full of fun although we stayed for two days only. We just maximized our time with the whole family.

When we arrived, I immediately cooked my eggplant parmigiana (check the recipe here) because it’s my nephew’s 10th Birthday and they requested for it. We had a birthday cake, macaroons, pasta, and prepared some fruit salad for his birthday, and viola! We had a simple, fun-filled, and crazy celebration for his 10th birthday. The birthday celebrant, Steffano is my eldest nephew and the first grandson of Mama.

Meet the birthday boy, Steffano (a.k.a Panong)!

Mama together with her grandson’s (Cyler, Steffano, Melo) and her one and only granddaughter (Civ)!

The family was almost complete, sad to say my eldest sister wasn’t there because she’s currently working in Saudi as a nurse. But her hubby and son was there to celebrate with us, which is good. I miss my nephew’s and niece so much! Oh-my-gulay! Having two toddlers in the house was a riot! They we’re running, yelling, dancing, jumping, yadah-yadah! It seemed like there’s a chaos, it’s crazy but everybody’s happy especially the birthday celebrant.

Cousin’s playing around the house

After the celebration, we visited my maternal grandfather’s grave. We prayed and stay there for awhile. After that we headed to Ynare’s Center where there is a mini-carnival, food, and bazaar! Well that sent chills to my spine! The kids we’re so excited for the rides while the kids at heart (especially me!) we’re so excited for the bazaar!

20121114-190419.jpg It was their first time to go here!

20121114-190434.jpg My family! Yes, I have a big family and I love it! 🙂

20121114-190451.jpg Dresses = Happiness & Kikayness!

20121114-191241.jpg Random things that you can see at Ynare’s Center

This place is one of my favorite place here in Antipolo once the Christmas season comes over. I used to go here together with my family and friends back then. And it never fails to make us feel happy and giddy! Actually, I’m not into the rides(I shudder and faint everytime I ride), I’m really into the foods and tiangge (Filipino term for bazaar), of course! Oh how I miss this place and everything about it. We had our dinner here, we had chicken and pork barbecue’s! I so love the chicken bbq and the liempo, it was a sinful but delectable delish dish! Sad to say I wasn’t able to take photos of it because I’m darn excited to eat it! We decided to go home after our sumptuous barbecue dinner because the kiddos we’re already tired.

The sad part is I wasn’t able to visit all the stores. LOL! Oh yes, the shoppingera in me was talking here. But I was able to purchased one dress for 350 bucks, necklace for 100 bucks, cap for Cyler (the one his wearing in the above images) for 75 bucks with name engraved on it, and toys for my nephew and niece for 20 bucks only. I guess that’s way cheaper compare to the mall, right?!

The morning came and it’s time to go home. Hay. Overall, we all had fun and had a great time. We’ll surely do it on December when we go back there. And this time I’ll make sure I’ll visit all the stores! Tee hee!

Don’t we just love long weekends?! 🙂

Happy Friday, everyone! 😉

Kikay Finds: Benefit Flawless Complexion Makeup Kit

Its 12:09AM already and I was about to start this post, my boys are still up and playing in our room so while they we’re busy I quietly sneaked in front of the computer and saw this post at my drafts. So, I decided to continue this so I can share it with y’all. So please forgive my grammar (as always) because my mind is off to LaLa Land now…. Teehee! Moving on, I’ve mentioned on my previous post how I fancy Benefit Cosmetics because its really good to my skin, very lightweight, and so easy to use. I also purchased their complexion makeup kit together with the lip and cheek kit that I mentioned from my previous post.

I’ve been using this makeup for almost two weeks now and so far so good, actually when it comes to cosmetics I only use TheFaceShop. It was my first time to try different brand of makeup but I like it, and I really really like it. I could not ask for more because I’ve got everything I need in this kit. Benefit’s custom skin perfectors come together in this convenient kit to give you an even, luminous complexion. It blends away imperfections and minimize the appearance of pores with the must-haves in this collection. The complexion makeup kit is available in light, medium ,and deep skin complexion. I recommend medium complexion kit for those girls who is also morena (tan), like me.

Oh, I really love how they named their products and I’m a sucker for them! They’ve got a good marketing strategy and they’re notorious because they’ve got the coolest and cutest packaging designs that are indeed catchy to the eyes, and oh they really got me! To my surprised, this frugalicious momma immediately purchased two kits in one stop, without thinking twice. For only Php1500 you can try all their best products. Their “star” product POREfessional is also included in this kit, this is one of the best base makeup that I have ever tried (I swear!)!

Mommy Finds: Meyerf Travel Pack Medicine Kit

I used to bring most of my things whenever I leave the house, most of the time people would ask me what’s on my huge bag. Well, I have my kikay kit, vanity kit, wallet, phone, my TBS Moringa body mist, hand sanitizer, umbrella, credit card holder, tissue, pen, and coin purse. But there’s one thing missing on my bag, can you guess what it is?!.. Oh yes, I don’t have medicine kit! I know it’s essential but I don’t have it! Cj and I get headaches at the most random times, especially when we travel,  but I always forgot to bring some medicines. I realized I’m not a girl scout. Here’s my confession: I don’t have medicine kit on my bag mainly because I’m too lazy to buy it. My fault, I’m sorry.  But here’s the good  news– my heart was filled with gladness when I found Meyerf Travel Pack Medicine Kit from the awesome site Manila Mommy.

Meyerf Travel Pack has all the essential medicines you need to fight against headaches, diarrhea, cough, fever, and colds. I purchased this portable medicine kit at Ministop for (drumroll please!)…. Php99.75 only! Now how good is that?! The container is clearly marked as to the use of each drug, so you’ll know what to take and when to take it. This travel pack has all the essential medicines that you need, it’s very affordable and useful. Super havey, right?! And also you can see the expiry date at the bottom of the container.

Kikay Finds: The Body Shop Moringa Body Mist

It’s so hard to find the perfect happy-medium scent that is not too sweet and not too floral, but I am happy because The Body Shop Moringa Body Mist is just perfect. This spray is fab and the smell lasts all day when sprayed. It also has the right amount of sweetness and floral scent that keep you from feeling like your grandma. This spray is richly floral that gives you a gentle burst of delicate florals. The fragrance is very light and airy, it doesn’t give you the cloying feel that stronger eau de toilettes can give, the smell is so refreshing.

Kikay Finds: Benefit “Go TropiCoral”

Hello! Hello! Gosh! I’m too excited to share this post because it’s all about kikayness (Giddy me!)! Have you heard about Benefit cosmetics? I’m not really familiar with it, not until they opened their branch in Rustan’s Makati. They recently opened their 3rd branch in Rustans Makati and I’m really excited to see it! Oh well, what do you expect to a “Make-up geek Mommy”? After all I’m just a girl who loves kikay stuffs and would die without it. 🙂

And here’s a little trivia about Benefit Cosmetics: (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

Benefit Cosmetics is a manufacturer of cosmetics founded and headquartered in San Francisco, California.

Benefit Cosmetics was founded in 1976 by twins Jean and Jane Ford. Initially founded as a beauty boutique, the shop specialized in quick-fix products for beauty dilemmas.

Benefit make up is unique compared to its competitors and draws in the customer due to its quirky packaging. Different products each have their own individual humorous design which makes the product stand out. The approach which Benefit have gone for is to appeal to the female market hypnotizing its customers into such a “pretty and cute” design; the numerous range of fonts, images and colours break all rules of a consistent house style yet Benefit manage to pull this off incredibly well.

Just so you know. Now, let’s move on to my review. Continue reading

Healthy Snacks for Toddlers

When Cyler was still a little baby he tends to eat fruits and veggies but when he entered the toddler stage he started to become more picky on what he eats. Our pedia, Dra.Vienne Saulog says that food fads and fussy eater behaviors are common in young children, particularly to toddlers.Toddlers often develop more finicky, or discriminating, tastes as they grow up because this is their way of expressing independence. She says that it’s normal to most toddlers, but really frustrating for many parents. So, finding ways to “healthify” his favorite cookies/snacks is one of my biggest challenge as a parent. I want to ensure that he get the fruits and vegetables he need.

Of course my family’s health is my top priority among others. But there are times when I get tired of trying to play guessing games on what he wants to eat everyday. Just to find out nothing. We completely weaned him from drinking Mosegor-Vita and he’s back to being a fussy-eater now. He has outgrown our TV trick. We also tried to sit together at the table, but it doesn’t work too! Feeding toddlers healthy foods can be a lot like playing an endless game of hide-and-seek — there’s their appetite…and now, it’s gone! Yes, it’s frustrating, really frustrating but that’s how it goes, and this is just one of my dilemmas as a mom.

My son, Cyler would rather eat cookies/snacks than to eat the real food, and so I started looking for some healthy snacks that will support the needs of his body. Doc Vienne also told us that as long as his healthy and he doesn’t get sick then there’s no need to worry. Being picky on what they eat doesn’t necessarily means that they don’t get enough nutrition says Dra.Vienne. But there are times when I can’t help it. That is why I started looking for nutritious snacks for my picky tot.

Here’s some healthy snacks for toddlers:
